Today's health care practitioners are faced with a variety of legal issues and a range of legal challenges. The common thread running through all of these practice areas is a link to the medical profession. By understanding that profession, we gain a clearer understanding of its members' needs.

Health Law

McLennan Ross’s Health Law group represents the recent formalization of a long-standing practice area within the firm. Headed by partner Jon P. Rossall, Q.C., the group includes litigators, corporate commercial, and labour and employment lawyers who share a common interest and experience in the health law field.

McLennan Ross’s Health Law Practice Group advises a diverse group of clients, ranging from physicians, physician practice groups and academic medicine departments, to the Alberta Medical Association, the Psychiatric Nursing Association, the Professional Association of Residents of Alberta and the Canadian Medical Protective Association.

McLennan Ross has represented this wide-ranging group of clients both in the courts, in inquests, disciplinary proceedings, negotiations and in commercial endeavors involving alternative payment programs and the establishment of a variety of membership structures. As well, members of the Group have provided advice on health-related policy and legislative initiatives.

Our members have lectured to physicians and physician associations on health law issues, and written extensively in the area of health law.

The Group provides services to the health care industry throughout Alberta (from our Edmonton and Calgary offices). As well, a number of our members are licensed to provide services in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
