Northern Practice Group

McLennan Ross Northern Practice Group LawyersMcLennan Ross has been providing legal services to Northerners for almost 50 years. Rod McLennan was our first lawyer to work with Northern clients.  Rod and others served a variety of clients with a wide range of legal issues from our Edmonton office.

In 1999, Glenn Tait moved to Yellowknife to establish our Northern office. Since then, our Yellowknife office has grown to one of the largest in the North with 4 lawyers based in Yellowknife as well as over a dozen additional McLennan Ross partners and associates who are admitted to the Northwest Territories Bar, the Nunavut Bar, the Yukon bar or all three.

We provide services to Northerners in a variety of practice areas including: administrative law; commercial & construction litigation; banking & insolvency; corporate commercial securities; energy, environmental & regulatory; health law; insurance; labour & employment; municipal and wills & estates.

Our Northern lawyers are backed by the firm’s full-time support departments including accounting, IT, library services and word processing. These lawyers, along with our experienced and knowledgeable staff, are able to provide a full range of legal services, in an effective and efficient manner, to clients throughout the North.

Our Northern clients include both small and large businesses across a variety of industries, sole proprietorships, various levels of government and government agencies, various municipalities and municipal boards, and health authorities. We also have experience in representing and dealing with First Nations issues.
