Congratulations to Scott A. Watson, Q.C. who was elected to The Law Society of Alberta as a Bencher. The Law Society regulates the legal profession in the province and is governed by 24 individuals, called benchers, who serve for a term of three years. Alberta's lawyers elect 20 lawyers and Alberta's Minister of Justice appoints four lay members to the Law Society. The Law Society's function is to ensure Alberta's lawyers meet professional standards. Benchers make decisions involving individual lawyers on issues such as discipline, membership and credentials. This is a significant honour for a lawyer and we are proud of Scott's success. |
