Profile

  • Senior Immigration Advisor at McLennan Ross, providing advice and assistance to our lawyers on visa, immigration and border issues and challenges
  • Served for 20 years with Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC) and Canada Customs as an Immigration, Senior Visa and Customs Officer
  • Worked for several years as a Diplomat at the Canadian Embassy in Iran and the Canadian High Commission in India
  • Served as the primary officer of the CIC Prairie Region Temporary Foreign Worker Unit for the first two years of its operations and was based at a CIC National Case Processing Centre in Vegreville, Alberta
  • Experienced in many areas of immigration through his work with the public service and private sector
  • Completed Bow Valley and Seneca College's Immigration Practitioner Course in 2009

Representative Work
Brian works closely with our lawyers in providing them comprehensive advice, tailored to your specific needs and presented in a timely and cost-effective manner. Brian's areas of expertise include:

  • Assisting lawyers in obtaining Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIA's) and working with Service Canada;
  • Assisting lawyers in obtaining Temporary Foreign Worker Permits - including accompanying spouses and dependents and retention/extension of permits;
  • Advising lawyers on the transition from temporary foreign worker to permanent immigration;
  • Working with immigration issues under NAFTA and other international treaties;
  • Assisting lawyers with the completion of Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC) application forms;
  • Identifying the best source countries for recruiting foreign workers, taking into consideration labour trade agreements, visa, medical and language requirements; and
  • Advising lawyers on general overall immigration, visa and customs needs.
