Darian prefers to become involved early in the transaction process by assisting in the drafting and negotiation of letters of intent or memorandums of understanding. This approach can lead to a smoother and more efficient closing by helping clients identify and navigate potential issues early in the transaction and avoid last-minute surprises.

His practice also includes drafting and reviewing a wide range of commercial agreements for the purchase of goods, products, and services. Darian approaches contracts with an understanding of the practical realities businesses face, including cash flow considerations, and works to tailor agreements to the operational needs of each client. He also advises on corporate organization and planning, helping businesses structure their operations in a practical and effective manner, including the formation and structuring of limited partnerships.

Darian has experience working with First Nations and Indigenous communities on a range of commercial transactions and related matters. He values the opportunity to work collaboratively with communities and businesses to work towards achieving long term and sustainable economic growth.

In addition to his corporate work, Darian advises clients on private wealth matters, including estate planning and estate administration. When assisting with estate planning, he focuses on understanding family dynamics and asking practical questions about how family dynamics may change in the future. In estate administration matters, Darian recognizes these are often difficult times for families and works to guide them through the process as clearly and efficiently as possible.

Prior to completing his Juris Doctor at the University of Alberta, Darian earned a Bachelor of Management with a major in Economics from the University of Alberta, Augustana Campus. While at Augustana, Darian competed on the Augustana Vikings Men’s Basketball team for five years and served as captain for four. He remains actively connected to the program as the current President of the Vikings Men’s Basketball Alumni Association. Darian prides himself on being approachable; he enjoys talking sports, especially basketball, and discussing business transactions and deals with others in the community.
