Gurjot Sekhon

Gurjot is a Student-at-Law in our Calgary office.

Gurjot earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Calgary, where he also earned his Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Neuroscience with a minor in Sociology. As an undergraduate, he was awarded the University of Calgary Undergraduate Merit and Alberta Innovates: Health Solutions Summer Studentship Award. In addition, he received three scholarships awards - Jason Lang Scholarship, Neuroscience Summer Research Scholarship, and University of Calgary President’s Admission Scholarship.

While in law school, Gurjot volunteered his time with the Student Legal Assistance, interviewing and representing clients in court. He researched various cases, negotiated with the Crown, and provided legal advice to clients. Further, he was part of the Law Negotiations Club where he organized negotiation clinics for law students.

Gurjot’s professional experience includes completing his clerkship at the Federal Court in Ottawa where he conducted research, prepared memorandums, and assisted in decision writing. He also worked as a Summer Student at McLennan Ross where he oversaw various legal research initiatives including research projects for Crown Prosecutors. He skillfully crafted a variety of legal documents to effectively meet clients’ requirements amongst other responsibilities.

An active community member, Gurjot volunteered with various organizations including ESL Youth Program, Foothills Hospital, Pawsitive Change Club, and Canada Blood Services. He also worked as a math tutor for a non-verbal boy with autism. 

Outside of law, Gurjot enjoys watching, playing, and coaching soccer. He is also an avid traveler and enjoys watching Oscar-nominated and foreign films.
