Jacky (Qianyuan) Xu

Jacky is a Student-at-Law in our Calgary office.

Jacky earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Alberta. He previously earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Simon Fraser University, graduating with a major in Labour Studies.  

In law school, Jacky was elected Committee Chair of the Student Articling Committee. He organized the faculty’s first virtual career fair during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Jacky also served as Vice-President Events of the University of Alberta’s Chapter of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers. In his capacity as Vice-President, he created a recruitment mentorship program for students of colour and advocated for various support resources for his peers.

Jacky’s professional experience includes working as a Summer Law Student for the Alberta Lawyers Indemnity Association (ALIA). He drafted memoranda on the Alberta Rules of Court, assisted claims counsel in reviewing complaints against members, and collected and briefed key documents in ongoing and expired claims. Jacky’s research at ALIA was instrumental in clarifying exemptions to the Civil Litigation Filing Levy pilot program.

Outside of law, Jacky enjoys basketball, weightlifting, golf, and wine tasting.

Jacky is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
