Matt is a partner in the firm’s Health Law, Commercial Litigation, and Labour & Employment groups, representing clients in a wide range of complex disputes.
In his health law practice, Matt advises and defends medical professionals in negligence claims, regulatory proceedings, and administrative proceedings, guiding them through high-stakes matters with precision and care.
In his commercial litigation practice, Matt draws on experience gained prior to entering law in management consulting, commodities trading, and portfolio management, He provides commercially informed, and business-minded strategic advice tailored to his clients’ needs. He regularly advises on corporate and commercial disputes, as well as professional negligence and general litigation in the financial services and brokerage industries.
He also brings this background and skillset in employment law, providing ad hoc strategic advice, and through civil litigation and administrative proceedings.
Matt has extensive trial experience and regularly appears before all levels of court in Alberta and Saskatchewan, as well as before arbitrators and administrative tribunals including professional regulatory bodies such as the College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Through a measured, client-focused approach rooted in analysis, Matt delivers results that align with his clients’ objectives.
Matt contributes to legal education by delivering regular client presentations on employment issues and the duties of investment advisors. He also supports continuing legal development through his work with the Legal Education Society of Alberta (LESA) and by serving as a panelist at Canadian Bar Association seminars and events.
