Bio
Samuel Bodner is a student-at-law in our Edmonton office.
Samuel earned his Juris Doctor at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. Before turning to law, he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Distinction from the University of Alberta.
Throughout his undergraduate degree, Samuel was employed in various construction industry roles, particularly those in the bricklaying and masonry trades. Before attending law school, he worked on the administrative side of the masonry trade, drafting affidavits, and coordinating submissions with outside counsel. Samuel’s professional experience includes working as a summer student at McLennan Ross. He was responsible for writing memos, researching case law and legislation in various practice areas, and drafting a variety of legal documents.
While in law school, Samuel was actively engaged in the student community, serving as an Editor and Contributor to The Weldon Times, the student newspaper at Schulich. Furthermore, he was also a pro bono volunteer at an Employment Law Legal Clinic and the Dalhousie Wills Project, for which he created and updated wills for low-income seniors in coordination with practicing lawyers in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Samuel also spent his final semester of law school as a Senior Law Student at the Dalhousie Legal Aid Service where he regularly drafted submissions and appeared at the Nova Scotia Supreme Court (Family Division), Provincial (Youth Justice) Court, and Small Claims Court.
Samuel is a sports enthusiast. He regularly golfs and has always been an avid hockey player. As a proud Edmontonian, he is a fan of the Edmonton Oilers, Eskimos, and Riverhawks. As a law student, he played on almost every intramural “Torts Illustrated” team put together. He also enjoys all genres of music, a good novel, skiing, rowing, which he picked up over four months while on exchange to Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland.
