Michelle Fong

Michelle strives to truly understand her clients and guide them to outcomes that work specifically for them. She employs a detailed and personable approach, apprising clients of their options so they are empowered to make informed decisions. 

Michelle serves as an advisor in tax law, corporate commercial law, and wills and estates matters. Her practice is focused on estate planning and tax planning for her clients. She enjoys working with clients to build succession plans for their businesses and estate plans for their families, all while considering the tax implications of the available options. Michelle has skillfully counseled clients through corporate reorganizations, a range of simple and complex estate planning, estate administrations, and succession plans for passing businesses down to the next generation. She assists clients in meeting their objectives for the transfer of personal and financial legacies, and also offers strategic planning to mitigate tax when appropriate.

Michelle draws upon both her considerable accounting background and legal knowledge to provide carefully considered, comprehensive solutions that align with her client’s long-term goals. Her accounting acumen enables her to efficiently communicate with her clients’ accountants and proactively identify issues that the client may not realize are accounting or tax issues in their estate or corporate matters.

Michelle excels at remaining current on rapidly changing estate and tax laws and frequently publishes on the latest updates.

In addition to her work, Michelle is passionate about community involvement. She serves as a Board Member of the Friends of University Hospitals, a Board for the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton, and a volunteer for a low-income tax clinics. Steadfast in the belief that diversity makes for a stronger community, she is also active in the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers.
