Richard maintains a diverse commercial litigation practice with a focus on construction disputes. He has experience assisting individuals and corporations on various construction matters with respect to contractual disputes and builders’ liens, and has appeared before the Provincial Court and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta in representing clients on these matters.  He has also resolved disputes through mediation, arbitration, and other forms of dispute resolution.

Richard also has experience with non-refugee immigration matters. Specifically, Richard has assisted individual and corporate clients in obtaining both temporary and permanent status including family class sponsorships, work permits, Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs), and other exemptions and waivers.

Richard appreciates the fact-specific nature of each matter, and provides client-centered services towards achieving the desired results. With the goal of client-satisfaction in mind, Richard provides timely, efficient and quality legal representation as an advocate and service provider.

  • Represents a general contractor in an arbitration against a condominium corporation with respect to the construction of a condominium development.
  • Represents a group of companies in defending allegations of non-payment for the lease of commercial aircrafts.
  • Assists senior counsel advising and representing provinces in defending allegations of construction deficiencies.
  • Represents a municipality in by-law interpretation and enforcement.
  • Represented a firefighting and emergency services client in defending against an injunction action by a municipality regarding first response issues.
  • Counsel to a vegetation management corporation with respect to contractual disputes and employment matters.
  • Defends wrongful dismissal actions on behalf of employers and prosecutes such actions on behalf of employees.
