With an already deep base of knowledge built over three decades in health law, Jon Rossall continues to add to his expertise. He continuously monitors evolving laws and regulations and their impact on his health care clients.
Jon’s extensive experience includes all sides and perspectives of health law as a trusted advisor to both individual physicians and professional associations. His practice centers on serving health care professionals in defense of disciplinary matters and in more traditional aspects of health care law, as well as in terms of practice advice and direction. He represents physicians when dealing with colleges, hospitals, the courts and disciplinary bodies. He advises medical associations with regards to a variety of interactions with government and administrative bodies. In addition, with a roster of clients in Northern Canada, Jon is experienced with the nuances and intricacies of this unique region. Jon instills confidence in all his clients by providing clear answers and a quality product at a reasonable cost.
Jon also handles professional liability and negligence matters for a range of professionals, including health care professionals, accountants, architects, and fellow lawyers. He also acts as general counsel and assists with administrative and municipal work, as well as defence and commercial litigation.
As an experienced negotiator, Jon advocates for physicians in negotiations with the Alberta Medical Association and Alberta Health/Alberta Health Services. He has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, as well as the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has appeared before a variety of administrative panels and boards, including the Workers' Compensation Appeals Tribunal, Municipal Subdivision and Development Appeals Tribunals, liquor Control Board hearings, and professional discipline hearings.
Health law is a natural fit for Jon. With a father who was a doctor, Jon grew up surrounded by the medical community. Now his clients appreciate this deep understanding of their businesses and his direct, matter-of-fact pragmatism. By addressing issues beyond what he is asked to do, Jon regularly goes above and beyond what is expected. He makes the effort and takes the time to get to know each of his clients and their unique practices.
