Royal Bank of Canada v Crowfoot Land & Livestock Corporation, 2021 ABQB 258, CanLII
| Alberta Court of King's Bench
This litigation matter concerned an Application by an auction company in southern Alberta for unpaid expenses and lost profits. The company had undertaken a number of steps to appraise and auction the assets of a bankrupt debtor, only to have the debtor redeem its defaulted loan just days before the auction was scheduled to take place. The Court allowed the company’s claim for unpaid expenses and the services provided, based in part on the common law doctrine of quantum meruit.
