Joyce Mitchell, K.C. Appointed McLennan Ross' Managing Partner
We are pleased to announce that Joyce Mitchell, K.C. has been appointed to the role of Managing Partner.
Joyce’s legal career spans over 30 years. She is a senior partner in our Calgary office and a recognized authority in labour, employment, and human rights law. She has been at the forefront of challenging and novel legal issues in both union and non-union environments, representing employers before the Courts in Alberta and British Columbia, labour relations boards, grievance arbitrators, and human rights tribunals. Joyce is also an accomplished negotiator and a highly respected workplace investigator. Her expertise has been acknowledged by leading publications such as Lexpert, Martindale-Hubbell, and Best Lawyers in Canada.
After 18 years with McLennan Ross, including 13 years as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, Joyce has a deep understanding of our firm. She has played a pivotal role in shaping our culture and strategic direction through her work on the Strategic Planning Committee, mentoring junior lawyers, and championing professional development initiatives.
Joyce exemplifies the resilience, strategic thinking, sound judgment, and exceptional client service that define McLennan Ross in the legal market.
Joyce is the first woman to lead McLennan Ross. She is a role model for women seeking to excel in their legal careers and is unfailingly committed to supporting women in the profession and to leveraging her leadership position to foster diversity.
As Managing Partner, Joyce will focus on advancing our strategic priorities, strengthening client relationships across all practice areas, developing talent, and investing in the communities we serve.
Joyce succeeds a distinguished line of Managing Partners, including Rod McLennan, K.C., Dave Ross, K.C., Chuck Russell, K.C., and most recently Steve Livingstone, K.C., who steps down after 14 years of dedicated service.
