Introducing McLennan Ross’ New Executive Committee

We are pleased to announce the appointment of a new managing partner and Executive Committee, a reflection of our continued commitment to strong leadership, strategic growth, and excellence in client service.

New Managing Partner

Joyce Mitchell, K.C., has been appointed as the new Managing Partner. 

Joyce is a senior partner in our Calgary office and a recognized authority in labour, employment, and human rights law. She brings 18 years of experience with McLennan Ross, including 13 years on the firm’s Executive Committee. She has played a pivotal role in shaping our culture and strategic direction through her work on the Strategic Planning Committee, mentoring junior lawyers, and championing professional development initiatives.  

Joyce is the first woman to lead McLennan Ross. As Managing Partner, Joyce will focus on advancing our strategic priorities, strengthening client relationships across all practice areas, developing talent, and investing in the communities we serve.

New Executive Committee Members

Pat Haughian and Erin Crosley have been appointed to the Executive Committee, bringing with them broad experience and diverse perspectives that will further strengthen the firm’s leadership team.

Pat Haughian is widely respected for his depth of experience and thoughtful approach to complex legal and business challenges. A partner in the firm's Corporate Commercial Group, his practice is characterized by a strong understanding of client needs, strategic problem-solving, and a commitment to achieving effective outcomes. Pat has long played an active role in firm initiatives and leadership, and his appointment to the Executive Committee reflects his ongoing contributions to the firm’s success and stability.

Erin Crosley is a seasoned partner and litigator who brings a dynamic and forward-looking perspective to the Executive Committee. Erin’s practice encompasses commercial litigation, employment, and insurance & risk management. Known for her skills, collaborative approach, and commitment to excellence, Erin has built a strong practice advising clients on sophisticated and evolving legal issues. She is also a strong advocate for innovation, professional growth, and inclusive leadership within the firm, making her a valuable addition to the Executive Committee.

Returning Executive Committee Members

We also want to take a moment to acknowledge our returning members Maurice Dransfeld and Alistair Stead who’ve been integral to the firm and have continued to uphold our firm’s purpose and values and advance the ambitions of our clients. Damon Bailey, K.C. will be stepping down from Executive Committee having served and helped manage the Calgary office over the last year. We are grateful to Damon for the meaningful contributions he has made to the firm as a member of the executive committee.

Maurice Dransfeld is a highly regarded labour and employment lawyer. Known for his diligence, pragmatic advice, and deep understanding of labour and employment law, Maurice provides strategic counsel to employers on a wide range of management-side issues, including wrongful dismissal, terminations, employment standards, privacy, and human rights matters. He also advises on employment policies, agreements, and day-to-day workforce management. His diverse background has provided him with a unique approach to practicing law. Maurice not only knows the intricacies of labour and employment law, but he also knows how to apply it to the real world of business.

Alistair Stead is the Chief Operations Officer who oversees the business, financial, and administrative operations of the firm. He is a highly experienced and well-regarded leader with nearly 20 years of finance and business planning experience. A combination of Alistair’s strong analytical skills and excellent business insights brings significant value to the executive committee.

Together, the new Executive Committee combines deep legal experience, proven leadership, and a shared commitment to the firm’s values. McLennan Ross is confident that under this leadership, the firm will continue to evolve, strengthen client relationships, and build on its long-standing reputation for excellence.
