2021 Education Year in Review

The Education Law Year in Review 2021 was presented by Teresa Haykowsky, James Lingwood, MaryAnne Loney, Jennifer Davis, and Dave Foster.
The virtual seminar honed in on the following key topics:
- a summary of the most significant and interesting cases impacting Alberta school authorities in the areas of labour and employment law affecting teachers and non-teaching staff;
- arbitral case law;
- human rights;
- the duty to accommodate;
- OHS updates;
- psychological harassment;
- student safety;
- privacy; and
- updates in commercial law with a focus on commercial leases.
Attendees received practical comments on how changes to the law would affect the work done by school authorities in 2022 and lessons learned over the past year.
