We are excited to announce the launch of our 2026 Workplace Investigations Webinar Series, a four-part webinar series designed to provide practical guidance for managing workplace investigations from the initial complaint through to reporting and outcomes.

Led by experienced Workplace Investigation lawyers, the series will explore the key considerations involved in conducting fair, effective and legally defensible workplace investigations. Designed for Human Resources and Labour Relations professionals, each session will provide practical strategies for navigating challenging complaints, conducting effective interviews, addressing sensitive and complex allegations, and managing investigation outcomes.

September 16, 2026 – Navigating Workplace Investigations: A Guide for HR Leaders

This session will provide an overview of the investigation process and the key decisions HR and Labour Relations professionals need to make when workplace complaints arise. Topics will include:

  • Recognizing when an investigation is required
  • Understanding internal policy requirements
  • Considering alternatives to a formal investigation
  • Selecting the appropriate internal or external investigator
  • Principles of a legally defensible investigation
  • Initial communications with complainants and respondents
  • Using technology effectively in workplace investigations

December 8, 2026 – Strategies for Effective Witness Interviews

Effective interviews are at the heart of a thorough workplace investigation. This session will explore practical strategies for preparing for and conducting witness interviews, including:

  • Determining who should be interviewed
  • Preparing for witness interviews
  • Managing difficult or hostile witnesses
  • Addressing unavailable or missing witnesses
  • Assessing credibility and reliability

February 18, 2027 – Investigating Sensitive and Complex Workplace Complaints

Some workplace complaints require investigators to navigate particularly sensitive allegations and complex factual circumstances. This session will examine considerations when investigating allegations involving sexual harassment, workplace violence, racism and discrimination. Topics will include:

  • Trauma-informed approaches to investigations
  • The intersection between workplace investigations and criminal law
  • Systemic racism
  • Recognizing prejudice and bias
  • Investigating allegations involving microaggressions

April 15, 2027 – Investigation Reports, Recommendations and Outcomes

The final session will focus on what happens once the fact-finding process is complete, including how investigation findings are documented, communicated and acted upon. Topics will include:

  • Writing clear and effective investigation reports
  • Preparing recommendations
  • Determining appropriate outcomes
  • Understanding disclosure requirements
